Following a degree in Law and Japanese, Emma joined accounting firm Arthur Andersen, and set up the firm’s Inward Investment practice. In 2000, Emma started Techlocate which was sold when Emma was 27. In 2005 Emma launched Enterprise Nation to support the flourishing number of start-ups and ran enterprise campaign, StartUp Britain, until 2014. In 2016 Emma served as SME Representative for Crown Commercial Service encouraging SME’s to sell to the public sector and its suppliers.
In 2012 Emma was awarded an MBE followed by a CBE in 2021. Emma started as the Small Business Commissioner in 2025.
